about

“Marwa (Omen) is a query between times... research from the past, to today, from the true stories, an Iranian Kid born in 90’s Tehran. A kid who’s been victimised by the wrong educational system and financial deprivation, just like thousands of youths who live under the regime of oppression and world sanctions.” - Tardast

Having released a flurry of singles spanning Grime, Drill and more experimental productions, as well as featuring on Loraine James’ latest release on Hyperdub, Farsi mc Tardast joins together with his Manteq family for the Marwa EP - the collectives most comprehensive body of work to date.

The Marwa EP includes 6 compositions: a collaboration between Tardast and Ling (PAN), Leo, Rugz and Gomnam.

Tardast left Iran as a teenager and arrived in the UK in 2014 to seek asylum. Since then he has been based in Birmingham and now Liverpool. Through his passion for music he was able to connect with artists across the country, forming the Manteq. This collective began their collaborations on the ‘TikeTike’ EP back in 2016, where they released the first Farsi grime album. Manteq grew and became a larger family in the years that followed.

The EP is accompanied by book/Minidisc combo featuring lyrics in English and Farsi and artwork from Tom Doubtfire, Sadiq Majlesi & Dast4dast. Circadian Rhythms will also be producing a number of modified heritage Liverpool jerseys.
